1- While “Marines” effectively portrays the dedication and spirit of U. S. Marines, it falls short in its representation of the diverse fabric of the military. One of the most glaring issues is the lack of racial and ethnic diversity among the Marines featured. The majority of individuals highlighted are white, which reflects a broader trend seen in many military documentaries. This lack of representation can perpetuate a narrow perception of who serves in the military and overlook the contributions of Marines from diverse backgrounds. By not showcasing a more varied array of experiences and backgrounds, the documentary misses the chance to celebrate the full spectrum of those who serve, including people of color and women.

 

2- Goes into technical detail about different specialties within the Marines, a sampling of some of the individuals from lower ranks and up to their section leaders. I felt like it doesn’t glamorize their jobs. An interesting documentary and a real look into what they do and who some of them are. Not over dramatic, well shot, well edited.
